About Us

The initial store in 104 1st Avenue, Tauranga opened in August 1987 with owner Heather Chander, 1 shop assistant, 1 sewing machinist and a cutter/patternmaker. Two of these initial employees are still employed by House of Heather. Today the Company has a manufacturing factory and 2 retail stores - Tauranga and Taupo. We employ 19 staff.

On the 1st April 2007 Heather sold the business to the current owners, Jan & Calum. The philosophy of quality and service are firmly embedded in the business, with all employees having been retained, and an orientation of a family business remaining. Loyal customers can be absolutely assured, you will still be able to buy your favourite House of Heather garments, with the same level of quality and service you have come to expect. We fully understand the difference between clothes made specifically for the fuller figure, versus smaller clothes made bigger, and we are fully committed to supplying women with 'more to love' with fashion choice.

Mail Order makes up a large portion of our business with 2 in-season high quality catalogues being sent out annually to 13,000 ladies throughout New Zealand. We pride ourselves on our relationships with and service to all our customers, and our mail order staff know many of our customers warmly, while never actually having met them in a physical sense. By contrast, House of Heather clothing is only available through our own outlets, thus making them exclusive to House of Heather.

As not all garments are featured in our mail order catalogues and on our website, an in store visit and consultation with our fashion gurus will ensure you leave looking good, feeling great!
